Overview
Modern news data retrieval infrastructure should deliver structured, analysis-ready data, not raw content that requires further processing or workarounds before it becomes useful.
At Contify, we are committed to equipping Product and Data teams with Business News APIs that deliver reliable, high-quality datasets suitable for business news-driven applications and workflows across various use cases.
Thatβs why weβre excited to announce Contify Business News API v4, our most feature-rich release yet.
This update delivers several enhancements, including auto-generated key highlights, auto-translated stories from 117+ languages, sentiment analysis of stories, and more advanced endpoints. These features are designed to provide more granular content retrieval with improved efficiency and precision.
Letβs take a deeper look at whatβs new in v4:
Instantly Grasp the Core of Every Story with AI-Generated Key Highlights
To help teams accelerate analysis and reduce processing overhead, the get/update endpoint now includes auto-generated Key Highlights in bullet point format for every story by default. This powerful feature, part of our AI-native data processing pipeline, provides concise, AI-generated summaries directly within the API response payload.
Instead of needing to build, train, and maintain your own summarization models, you can now receive concise, ready-to-use summaries for every article.

This saves significant engineering resources and allows you to quickly power content-curation modules, enrich knowledge-management products, or provide users with at-a-glance insights, moving beyond raw data to analysis-ready intelligence.
Gain Deeper Context with Story-Level Sentiment Analysis
Understanding the tone of a news article is crucial for applications in finance and risk management. In v4, we are introducing a story-level sentiment field to our get/update endpoint. It classifies each article as positive, negative, or neutral.Β

You can also filter queries by sentiment_id to retrieve articles that match a specific sentiment, enabling more nuanced and context-aware data integration. This new layer of AI-driven enrichment provides a deeper understanding of market-moving events and company news.

Achieve Unmatched Precision with Advanced Search and Filtering
Building on our commitment to delivering clean, relevant content, the v4 get/update endpoint has been enhanced with several new parameters, providing you with more granular control over your queries.Β
These additions provide unmatched control and customization, ensuring you receive only the most relevant content.
Ticker Symbol
By using the ticker_symbol parameter, you can now filter updates related to a specific stock ticker. This parameter supports an exact match and uses the symbol.exchange format (e.g., AAPL.NASDAQ).Β

This is essential for financial apps seeking to enhance portfolio management or investment research portals with market-moving news for publicly listed companies.Β
Source Location
Track news from specific geographic regions by using the source_location_id to filter updates based on the location of the source publication.Β

You can retrieve the relevant location ID using the get/search-location endpoint. This supports use cases requiring hyperlocal to global coverage, such as tracking regional market trends or local regulatory changes.
Company HQ Location
To find news about companies based in a specific area, use the new company_hq_location_id parameter.

The relevant location ID can be accessed using get/search-location endpoint. This filters updates based on the headquarters location of companies mentioned in the content, enabling geographically focused monitoring of companies.
Published by Company
With the newly added published_by_company_id parameter, you can search for stories published directly by a specific company, such as press releases, blogs, and case studies. The relevant location ID can be accessed using get/search-company endpoint.

This is invaluable for augmenting proprietary datasets with official press releases, company announcements, and news events such as funding rounds, partnerships, and other direct communications.
Global Coverage with Enhanced Multilingual Translation
Weβve now enhanced our multilingual capabilities to deliver auto-translated stories in English, along with original content, for more than 117+ languages globally.Β
These translations are highly accurate. Rather than relying on generic translation models, Contify intelligently selects the most accurate large language model (LLM) for each specific language pair.Β
This ensures translations preserve industry-specific terminology and cultural nuances of the original content, delivering stories that maintain contextual accuracy.

Expanded Source Management Capabilities
Our coverage already provides you with access to over 1 Mn+ vetted sources, including 250,000+ international language sources, covering 700,000+ companies, 100+ industries, and extensive business topics.Β
Additionally, we allowed you to integrate your own sources. Now, we are making this workflow even easier.
We have introduced a new endpoint, get/request-source, which allows you to request a specific source directly and add it to your monitoring coverage. This works similarly to the existing get/request-company endpoint, aligning with our promise of offering unmatched control and customizations.Β Β
